What is CBD?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol. It is one of over 100 different components found in the Hemp plant. These different components are called cannabinoids. CBD has been used for medicinal and therapeutic purposes dating back to 8,000 BC times with some findings dating back a lot further. Only in “recent” history (1934 and 1970) has Hemp been outlawed in the US, and therefore CBD has not been studied much since it is derived from the Hemp plant. Because of this time break in history, CBD has only recently been researched and studied.

Why does CBD work so well?

People see so much relief with CBD because of the way it interacts with one of our body's major Organ Systems called The Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This system is responsible for maintaining and managing Homeostasis in the body. The ECS is constantly working to bring peace in our body through receptors located all throughout our central and nervous systems.

Our body creates its own cannabinoids. Research and studies have been ongoing since this was discovered in 1992. They have shown results in identifying that sometimes our bodies do not produce enough cannabinoids, leaving us being Cannabinoid Deficient. When our body does not get enough cannabinoids, research is discovering side effects occur such as migraines, Fibromyalgia, IBS and several more are being surfaced as studies continue.

CBD is a type of Cannabinoid known as a Phytocannabinoid. It has been used as a supplement for canabinoids in our body to help our ECS function properly.

Are there documentaries about CBD?

Yes! Netflix has a great documentary into the benefits of CBD called Weed. Sanja Gupta introduced to the world a child with epilepsy who found relief in CBD oil when all other medication had failed. Charlotte Figi, the main star of the documentary, was confined to her wheelchair. After using CBD Oil, she is able stand up, run around, draw, color and get back to being a kid again. The CBD Oil drastically reduced her seizures. This is just the beginning of many success stories where CBD is bringing relief, hope and joy back into people’s lives.

Will CBD get me high?

No, CBD will NOT give you the “high” feeling associated with THC as there is very little to no THC in the hemp plant.

Where does CBD come from?

CBD comes from the Hemp plant, which is a cannabis plant with a THC level lower than .3%. Hemp is derived from the Cannabis family however Hemp has a lower content of THC and a higher content of CBD. Whereas Medical Marijuana has a higher content of THC and a lower content of CBD.  The relationship of Hemp to Medical Marijuana is that similar to Cousins.
